This July I had an amazing experience. I photographed a Canadian Citizenship ceremony held at the Government House in Regina. I was honored to capture this compelling and emotional event and I'm so excited for Canada's newest citizens. The ceremony started with speeches from dignitaries, acknowledgment of Treaty 4 and 6 territory, and a round table discussion where new citizens shared their experience in Canada so far. The second half of the ceremony included speeches, an oath, singing the national anthem, and receiving a certificate from the attending justice. A small reception followed. I am so glad I was able to observe and photograph such an important event. Congratulations to all of Canada's newest citizens!
