On a pleasant day in June, Lacey and Nick said their vows at the Westminster church in front of their closest friends and family. We had a great afternoon taking photos around Wascana Lake and finished off our afternoon on top of Douglas Park Hill, one of Lacey's favorite spots in the city. Although we needed to use our umbrellas at our first location, the rain seemed to hold up until we were ready to head to the Conexus Art Center for dinner and reception. Thanks, mother nature!
Congratulations Lacey and Nick. We wish you a lifetime of happiness!
This September, Ashley and Curtis shared their wedding vows during an intimate ceremony in front of family and friends at Truly Unique Country Weddings. These lucky folks are one of the last couples to be married at this fantastic venue. Truly Unique have now retired from the wedding business after many years of hard work and wonderful service. I'm sure TUCW is happy to end their career with such a fantastic couple!
Ashley and Curtis really are fantastic to work with. These two are so relaxed. It must be from all the fresh air they get, hiking and canoeing with their pup Jake. Jake the dog served as an honorary groomsman and he even walked down the aisle with Curtis. He is, after all, an important member of the family!
On this beautiful September morning, Ashley and the bridesmaids started their day at Blush Beauty Bar where the crew did a fantastic job applying makeup to these already beautiful ladies. We then headed over to Ashley's home for snacks, hair, and final touches. Ashley is a very creative lady, which I'm sure serves her well in her Esthetics career. On this special day, she put her creativity to use, preparing a stylish and tasty brunch of appetizers and a DIY mimosa bar. Ashley's gorgeous sense of style was also apparent at the reception that she decorated in her signature chic fashion.
While the girls prepared for the day, Curtis and the groomsmen had a relaxing morning getting ready at his groomsman's house. As typical of most wedding days, the guys had a lot more time to visit and relax before getting into their suits.
In the mid-afternoon, we gathered just outside Regina at Truly Unique Country Weddings. Under the warm afternoon sun, Curtis and Ashley shared their vows in a simple and heartfelt ceremony. Following the ceremony we explored the grounds of TUCW for formal photos. We made sure to include some photos of the couple's canoe to celebrate their passion for adventure and each other. All in all, it was a perfect wedding day. We had great weather, great locations, and an amazing bride and groom. Everyone was smiling as the afternoon turned to evening.
After formal photos, Ashley and Curtis invited their guest to join them for the reception in the tent where they shared a great meal, music, and lots of dancing. Congratulations Ashley and Curtis! We wish you a lifetime of happiness.
What's better than spending May long helping your friends celebrate their marriage? Not a whole heck of a lot, especially when those friends are Matt and Linda. These two had such a wonderful day. This is a perfect example of how “keeping it simple” will ensure you have a stress-free and gorgeous wedding day.
In the early afternoon, siblings and parents watched the happy couple exchange vows among the blooming gardens of the Regina Floral Conservatory. Following the delightful ceremony, we visited the Broken Rack for a pint and a “friendly” game of Foosball. After Linda won (or was it Matt who won?) we ventured over to the Mackenzie Art Gallery where we spent the better part of the afternoon chatting, laughing, and taking some gorgeous formal photos. Our last stop before the reception was the White Butte Trails, where Linda and Matt had their first date over 5 years ago!
The intimate reception was held at the White City Hall where family and friends were entertained by a short program from MCs, Tyler and Steve- who had the guests battle in the “Hunger Games” to earn their place at the buffet line. After the supper, guests played board games, laughed, danced, and had a great time celebrating the love of two fantastic people. In addition to being awesome friends and clients, I must also award them 1000 points for their Totoro cake topper! If you are a Miyazaki fan too, I'm sure you will feel just as tickled by their nod to the amazing Director/Animator as I was.
Congratulations Linda and Matt. We wish you all the happiness in the world :)
Melissa and Curtis said their "I Do's" this February in front of family and friends at the RCMP Heritage Centre. We were so fortunate to be treated to a much warmer than seasonal February; I was hard pressed to find a spot for formal photos that still had some snow on the ground. Luckily A E Wilson park made for a beautiful setting. We also spent some time at Government House and then we headed to Scarth street for some more photos near O'Hanlon's pub, which just happens to be where Melissa and Curtis met. After we completed photos, the wedding party warmed up in the pub before heading to a beautiful reception at St. Mary's hall. It was awesome to spend such a great day with this wonderful couple. Congrats Melissa and Curtis!
I can't say enough about how excited I was to photograph Jessica and Ashleigh's wedding this November. It's always a great sign when you can geek out over Harry Potter with your clients. These beautiful brides put so much work into their wedding details. They crafted gorgeous paper flower bouquets using pages from their favorite books, donned Harry Potter socks, and Marauder's Map hand painted shoes. Perhaps the most important DIY detail was their very touching vows they wrote for each other. Pastor Carla got in on the Harry Potter theme and wore a stole with the Gryffindor colours just for the wedding.
With two book-loving brides it only made sense to do some formal photos in a library. We goofed around in the John Archer Library at the University of Regina. We also ventured outside for some more photos in the industrial area. As the sun set, we met up with the wedding guests at Crave Kitchen and Wine Bar for toasts, a delicious meal, dancing, and lots of laughter. Congratulations Jessica and Ashleigh! I have a good feeling your real life love story is every bit as brilliant as the stories you read together.
p.s I wanted to thank Jessica's mama for bringing me delicious gluten free carrot cake. Being a vegetarian with celiacs makes eating during wedding days a bit challenging. She made my day easier and yummier. What a sweet lady!
